Amazing prayer…of the US Army?!!

Mother Earth, you are my life support.
As a soldier, I must drink your blue waters,
Live inside your red clay and eat your green skin.
Help me balance myself,
As you balance the Earth, the Sea and the Space environments.
Help me to open my heart,
knowing that the Universe will feed me…

Men Who Stare At Goats

As I was watching the film “The Men Who Stare at Goats” (2009) I had mixed feelings. I really like the idea, but I kept wondering if the makers were mocking the ways of the energy. The story of the film follows a new kind of US Army unit, called New Earth Army. Its members use psychic powers to do such feats as remote viewing, cloud bursting and even heart stopping.

The film opens with an intriguing line ” More of this is true than you would believe”…

Men Who Stare At Goats

Right.. so what does this have to do with Permaculture? Well, there is a scene of the awakening of the army leader, in which he and the protagonist perform sun salutations and recite a prayer to the Earth. It’s absolutely amazing, and it says how I feel about the Earth so well, that I wanted to record it and share it. Here it goes:

Mother Earth, you are my life support.
As a soldier, I must drink your blue waters,
Live inside your red clay and eat your green skin.
Help me balance myself,
As you balance the Earth, the Sea and the Space environments.
Help me to open my heart,
Knowing that the Universe will feed me.
I pray my boots will always kiss your face,
And my footsteps match your heartbeat.
Carry my body through space and time.
You are my connection to the Universe and all that comes after it,
I am yours, and you are mine.
I salute you…I salute you

If everyone recited a prayer similar to this every morning, how likely are we to make the same choices at the checkout register?
